According to the Capstonereport.com, former Hoover Gazette sportswriter Hunter Ford will again be a guest on the Paul Finebaum show this afternoon to answer questions about whatever the hell happened last week, when Ford was apparently fired live on the air.
Several times last week, Ford had been a guest on Finebaum’s show to talk about the on-going scandal at Hoover High School. Ford insinuated that Hoover High football coach Rush Probst had been having an affair, in addition to allegations of grade tampering to benefit athletes.
After Ford, who had been speaking to Finebaum over the phone, hung up, Hoover Gazette General Manager John Junkin called into the show hoping to speak with Ford about his employment status at the newspaper. Finbaum, his co-host and callers took the remark to mean that Ford was to be fired. Junkin told Finebaum that Ford did not need to be saying things on the air that they would not print in the newspaper.

Updates after the jump.
UPDATE: Indeed Ford was fired on Friday. On Finebaums’ show this afternoon, Ford said that he had been told by his publisher at the Hoover Gazette not to go back on the show again or to discuss the on-going scandal at Hoover High School. He did anyway, and he got fired.
Finebaum said that he spoke to Propst just before the show began. Propst told him that the allegations of an affair were false and alluded to taking legal action against Ford or others. However, Propst would not come on the show to discuss the allegations, Finebaum said.
Finebaum also said that he had investigated the infidelity rumors himself late last year and that Propst had denied them then, as well.
UPDATE: Media mixing continues as, on Finebaum, Rick Karle from Fox 6 plays an interview conducted today with Rush Propst about, among other things, a reporter from the Hoover Gazette being fired for making comments on Finebaum. Got that?
Anyway, in the interview, Propst told Fox 6 that his status is fine and that the current tempest is all just jealousy of his success. He refused to comment on the personal allegations.

Seems like I have heard Rush play the jealousy card before.

I forced myself to listen to this Hunter Ford character. The guy sounds like a 6th grader. Does he have an education beyond the 6th grade?
Even if Rush had an affair, it’s none of his business.
If Hunter Ford spends a lot of time in adult movie theaters, it’s nobody’s business. Therefore, what Rush does in his personal life is no one elses business.
I think the Peter Principle is the reason Hunter got fired from the Hoover Gazette. He was in over his head. I also think it’s a safe bet that we’ll never see him writing for the NYT.

I’m suprised that no one considers the character of a head coach to be important. This man is leading and molding a lot of young individuals.
He’s not a deadbeat who’s out sowing seeds irresponsibly. Rush is a great coach. He’s a good man. I just don’t think that he’s setting a good example for the young men that he is molding, however.
