The new red Mountain Park has many plans in store to develop the historic property that doubles as greenspace and add to the list of things to do in Birmingham.
One that already exists is the zipline tour that revolves around the old No. 13 Mine. You move between platforms in the trees, sometimes skimming just over or beside the greenery, sometimes passing over woodland trails and hikers down below.
While crossing from platform to platform in the trees, you will sometimes swing across, sometimes cross a rope bridge, sometimes go for a short ride hooked to the zipline strung from tree to tree, and sometimes glide for a hundred yards or more with your feet dangling in the air.
You will travel with park guides whose number varies according to the size of the group. It is a great way to experience Birmingham’s greenery and history. Enjoy the ride. Check out videos of the different zips at www.bhamweekly.com
