Jon Reep February 17-February 18, 2012 Tonight the Comedy Club Stardome is hosting a very funny and up and coming comedian named Jon Reep. Reep is probably best known for his famous line in the Dodge commercial, “That thing gotta Hemi in it?” Yep, it’s that guy. Apparently, from what I understand he is also a phenomenal dancer and has been selling out shows for years across the States before even being associated with his famous moniker. At any rate it does seem like it should be a good show and worthy of your hard earned dollars. Ticket Price: $23.00 Fri/Sat. Phone: 205-444- 0008. Times: Fri at 7:30 PM and 9:45 PM; Sat at 7:30 PM and 9:45 PM.

It will feature 21 of Birmingham’s top professional jazz musicians which will include 5 Saxes, 5 Trombones, 5 Trumpets and a Rhythm section. The price is definitely right on this one at only $5. Bring your dancing shoes, or pants, whatever floats your boat.

Wicked Broadway Across America is back with Wicked. I personally have never seen Wicked so I will not offer up some lackluster review. Instead, I will just tell you to go and experience it for yourself.
Everything I have heard about it has been great and I trust my sources, almost to a fault. If you don’t already know, the play is about the witches in Wizard of Oz before Dorothy came into their lives or ended one of their lives with her house. I’m sure the Wicked Witch of the West wasn’t always bad, right? Therapists were expensive back then. The show is running from 2/15 to 3/4 at the BJCC Concert Hall. Please go to http://wickedtour.net/wickedbirmingham for more info about times at ticket prices.

UAB Softball vs. Alabama Alright Tide fans I know you like anything Tide so here it is. UAB softball will be hosting Alabama this evening, I know it’s not football but you have to get your fix somehow. UAB has a really good team and the smart money is on the Blazers. This is the home opener and the weather will be nice. I do realize the Tide has a great team also but you got to love an underdog, especially if it is the home team. Tickets are $5. Game starts at 6 pm.

I try to go out to eat only once a week but my kitchen and wallet will definitely tell you otherwise. As it is, I am a fan of good wine as well as good food so having it been over a month I will be heading up to Tavern on the Summit for the usual half priced bottles and of course, my favorite sandwich in the world, the prime rib sandwich. I cannot deny the temptation any longer and must have it, heart surgeons be damned because I want some red meat. I am going to drink an entire bottle of Mark West Pinot Noir as well and will be outta’ there for under 30 bucks. How could someone ever want to be vegan? Oh yeah, take a cab or something responsible.

11th Annual Taste of Homewood Today I have a new event to me, Taste of Homewood. As aforementioned I do enjoy the indulgences life has to offer and this will be no exception. As I sit here staring out the window I ponder upon the many establishments in Homewood that I like to frequent and I dare not list one for fear of leaving out another. So, I suggest heading down to beautiful SOHO square and having a sample of what cuisine Homewood has to offer. There will be over 30 vendors on sight and there will be food sampling as well as beer and wine tasting for those who can handle it and of course live music. Tickets: $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce located the Homewood Library, online, or from several other locations. Time 5:30 – 8:30 pm. Phone: 205-871-5631
