Early Tuesday morning Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford was rear-ended at a red light on Ensley Avenue near Fair Park. The mayor was not injured and appeared at the city council meeting later in the morning.
Was the mayor driving to work from his home in Fairfield? Of course not. He moved to Birmingham, remember? He just takes his homestead exemption in Fairfield and parked his car there overnight every time we checked.
But there's absolutely no way the mayor was on his way from Fairfield, where he doesn't live, to Birmingham, where he works. So just get that out of your head right now.
Rather, as the mayor explained to the city council, he was driving out there to check on all the progress going on at Fair Park. Got that? Not driving to work from Fairfield.
