Convergence on zero may sound like the title of a ‘70s sci-fi film, but no, it’s the name of an upcoming conference regarding a future without those nasty fossil fuels. “Convergence on Zero: the Transition to Zero Emissions,” will be held at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C., June 25-26. Leading energy and climate experts from the increasingly green nation of Wales, which is striving to cut its fossil fuel use by 90 percent by mid-century, will meet with experts from the U.S. and the U.K. to discuss climate change and energy security. These experts will include both “thinkers” (scientists and researchers) and “doers” (engineers, architects and entrepreneurs), according to a press release. Read more at www.convergenceonzero.org. Learn more about a conference co-sponsor, the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales, at www.cat.org.uk. The Welsh Assembly Government has established a web site to help individuals, businesses and other groups find information regarding public funds available in Wales for energy efficiency and small-scale renewable energy projects..
