Tuesday will be Bluesday when Chicago legends Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials perform at Workplay Theatre. On Tuesday, March 3, the quartet - Lil' Ed Williams, Mike Garrett, James "Pookie" Young and Kelly Littleton - will bring its electric blues to Birmingham in a show sponsored by the Magic City Blues Society. Fronted by vocalist and searing slide guitarist Williams - the nephew of renowned slide man J.B. Hutto -'a0 the lineup is celebrating is 20th year together.
In 2008, Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials released Full Tilt, the group's latest recording for famed Chicago label Alligator Records. Mixing full-blown raveups with slow-burning numbers, the disc finds the band joined by horn players Eddie McKinley and David Basinger and pianist/organist Johnny Iguana on several tracks.
