Palin or no, book banning in vogue

By Matt Hooper
You don'92t need Alaska'92s version of Marge Gunderson to remind you that some people still get in a tizzy whenever they come across a library book that portrays reality. According to a Birmingham News report from Stan Diel, Alabama has its own Sarah Palins marching into local libraries to demand that books like Sandpiper ('93description of sex offensive'94), Diary of a Wimpy Kid ('93doesn'92t foster a positive self image'94) and even Little Red Riding Hood (there was wine in that gift basket!) be removed from shelves. Of course, graphic sexual descriptions, negative self-image and wine consumption are all depicted prominently in The Bible: Genesis 19:30-36, Genesis 37:19-24 and Numbers 18:12, respectively.
