The Catholic Church is known for its charity and public service, and Holy Infant of Prague Catholic Church in Trussville is no different. “We are a stewardship parish,” says the parish priest, called “Father Bill” by his parishioners, “and we focus on gifts of service to the Lord.” Father Bill gives credit to the parishioners for most of the stewardship projects, and gives them the credit for making them reality.
One of the projects, the St. Vincent de Paul society, is a lay run organization that serves the poor. The society creates relationships with those in need, and provides material assistance. The parish works with the Archdiocese of Birmingham to coordinate and administer disaster relief for the tornado victims of this past April and January.
Father Bill and his parish invite any and all to see the former TV actor, Frank Runyeon performing his dramatic presentations of the Gospel February 26-28, 2012, beginning every night at 7:00 p.m.
Holy Infant of Prague is named for the 16th century Roman Catholic wax statue of the child Jesus located in the Church of Our Lady Victorious in Malá Strana, Prague Czech Republic. The statue is known by Catholics to hold miraculous powers, especially among expectant mothers. More information is available online at www.hiopcc.org.
