Toys for Tots Tis’ the season for giving and I don’t believe we have a fundraiser yet for this “8 days” so tonight make it out to The Clothes Tree by Deborah on Old Rocky Ridge Rd to help raise money for Toys for Tots which is an awesome charity this time of year. Also, there will be a special guest; Miss Alabama, Courtney Porter will be in attendance. It’s only $100 per couple and there will be complimentary wine and entertainment as well. Seven to midnight.

There is a $35 registration fee for adults and there is also a kid’s fun run afterwards that is free but is asking for a toy to be donated for Toys for Tots instead of cash.

Dance it out Bonerama is playing tonight at Workplay. These guys are pretty funky with brass instruments and the like. I saw them last time they performed at Workplay and it is a really good show. Now, this is an 18 and up show so keep that in mind. The show starts at 8pm and there is a $15 cover charge.

Pizza and Beer Tasting What are two things that go together but the dynamics are hardly ever explored? That’s right, pizza and beer. Tonight at Slice in Lakeview Birmingham Beverage will be providing 4 different beer samples coupled with 4 different slices of pizza and naturally there will be an explanation for why each of these pairings works or should work. This event is limited to only 30 people and tickets cost $20 so get your ticket early.

Christmas Stories Looking for something to do with the kids since they are out of school? If so, head to the West End Branch of the Birmingham Library today at 3:30 for Story Time. There will be a wide selection of the best Christmas stories available. Who knows, there may be some classics that the kids might have not heard before and the best part of course is that this good time is free.
21WED
The University of Alabama Men’s Basketball vs. Oklahoma State The Crimson Tide will be at the BJCC tonight to face the OK State Cowboys. Last year the Tide lost in OK City to the ‘boys so it’s time for revenge. The Cowboys had a great team last year and made it to the second round of the NIT tourney. That means that this is sure to be another great game and is also a treat since Bama hasn’t played in B’ham since 2007. The game starts at 8 pm and call the BJCC for tickets and pricing.

Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year which means it is all uphill from here, literally. Join other fellow nature enthusiast at Ruffner Mountain Nature Reserve for the winter solstice hike to Hawk’s View Overlook as twilight approaches. There will be refreshments provided upon completion and the cost is only $15 for nonmembers. The hike is about 3 miles and reservations are required to participate. The hike starts at 4pm.
