STEAK! Okay, it has been two weeks since Thanksgiving and all of the turkey, stuffing and sweet potato casserole with marshmallows on top is all gone. Which means now that the annual ‘week of leftovers’ is over it is safe to return to the restaurants! I love my turkey and dressing but come on, where’s the beef? I need a steak, preferably a filet, and I need it now. So I am going after work to get a filet at either Sweet Bones Alabama in the Summit or Michael’s. I understand we have a litany of fantastic steak houses in this town so if you disagree with my choices please feel free to call an audible. Happy hour here I come!

The Birmingham Ballet has one of the best productions of The Nutcracker in the world. Each year the production is a little bit different but never strays too far from the original. This year the Professional Repertory Company will perform with cities’ biggest children’s community class which is over 130 strong. If you think you have already seen this production keep in mind that the production varies each year adding nuances not seen before. Tickets are only $22 for adults and around $15 for kids. Tickets are available at the BJCC Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations. Please call 1-800-745-3000 for more info.

Birmingham Shopping If you are a serial procrastinator like me then you also did not participate in the madness that was Black Friday or the mundane online Monday so this must mean your loved ones present-less. Go shopping. The Summit, Galleria, Brookwood and everywhere in between is waiting for you. Also, this year try to buy American and let’s keep some of those holiday dollars in house. Think of Rocky vs. the Russian, only this time the Russian uses chop sticks.

Also, there will be a special guest; Miss Alabama Courtney Porter will be in attendance. It’s only $100 per couple and there will be complimentary wine and entertainment as well. Seven to midnight.
