For nearly 20 years, Michelle Malone has performed a gritty, blues-based style of roots music. Logging more than 200 days on the road per year, the Atlanta-based singer/songwriter has shared the stage with a diverse list of artists including ZZ Top, Joan Jett, The Indigo Girls and Chris Whitley. On Wednesday, December 5, Malone will open for The Wood Brothers at Workplay. Showtime is 8 p.m.
Malone's latest recording, Sugarfoot, was released in 2006 on her own SBS label. The disc ended up on many of the year's "Best Of" lists and received praise from Performing Songwriter, Harp, All Music Guide and Scripps News Service. Featuring 12 original songs, Sugarfoot finds Malone joined by fellow recording artists Garrison Starr and Shawn Mullins.
Tickets for Wednesday's show are $12 and can be purchased at www.workplay.com or by calling 380-4082.
