Bees, too? Damn it!

Bees, like bananas—disappearing

It ain’t just bananas that may be disappearing from this increasingly foul planet. Farmers and beekeepers are dealing with a rather grim phenomenon called colony collapse disorder (CCD), which occurs when bees mysteriously disappear from their hives.

In response to this disturbing trend—which could mean that we wouldn’t have any more HONEY, for God’s sake—Simon Pearce, a glass and pottery firm in Windsor, Vt., has announced their new Sustainable Beeswax Program.

According to a news release from the company, a portion of the proceeds from each purchase of a Simon Pearce Beeswax Candle will be donated to the research of honeybees and CCD. The candles are supposedly pure beeswax and hand-dipped in the good ‘ol US of A. To learn more, visit www.simonpearce.com or www.peoplemakinggood.com.
