The Poarch Band of Creek Indians of Alabama has received a federal conservation grant administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), according to a recent FWS news release.
The Poarch Band will receive $200,000 to help restore the long-leaf pine trees that once covered the Southeast. More than $7 million will go to 42 tribal projects in 16 states as part of the Tribal Wildlife Grants program, according to Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar.
