The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has agreed to review the statuses of 29 imperiled species of plants and animals. After a review, the species could be granted protection under the Endangered Species Act. You can read the original release from the FWS Mountain-Prairie Division in Lakewood, Colo.
According to a press release from WildEarth Guardians, a Colorado-based conservation group, the species being considered for protection include 20 plants, six snails, one fish, and two kinds of insects. The organisms can be found in 21 different states.
The FWS initially considered 38 organisms for the review process, but nine were judged to be not sufficiently endangered to warrant further review.
